LingoSwap ("we", "us", "our") is the mobile application published on Google Play as "LingoSwap: Language Exchange" (Android package name: io.studybody.swaplingo) and on the Apple App Store under the same product name. The App is published by the Google Play developer yanakADAM — the developer name shown on the app’s Google Play store listing — which is the developer account of Can YASTIOĞLU (Can Yastioglu), an individual developer based in Burdur, Türkiye, listed as the verified developer contact for the App. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it when you use the LingoSwap mobile application (the "App") and related services at https://swaplingo.studybody.io.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect: email address, display name, password (stored as a one-way bcrypt hash — we cannot read it), date of birth or birth year (for age verification), native language(s), language(s) you are learning, language proficiency self-assessments, optional avatar image, optional gender, and timezone.If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple stable user ID and (only on first sign-in) your name and email address. If Apple's "Hide My Email" is used, we receive a private relay address — we treat it as a normal email.If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account ID, email, name, and profile picture URL.When you use the App, we collect: session metadata (start/end time, language pair, partner ID — but not the audio/video content), text chat messages you send, ratings and reviews you give, friend/follow relationships, blocks and reports you submit, push notification tokens (per device), and basic device information needed for delivery.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

We do not record or store the audio or video content of your live sessions. Audio and video are relayed through our own LiveKit server purely to connect you and your partner, and are never written to disk.The one exception is the optional Live Subtitles feature. While you have it switched on, your session audio is transcribed in real time by Google Cloud Speech-to-Text so that subtitles can be displayed and translated. The audio is processed as it streams; no recording is created or kept.We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: suggest appropriate language partners, deliver and route sessions, send push notifications you have opted in to (friend requests, scheduled sessions, messages), enforce community safety rules, respond to abuse reports, and improve the service through aggregate analytics.

4. Sign in with Apple

When you use Sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates you and sends us a token confirming your identity. We store the Apple user ID returned by Apple. If you delete your Apple ID or revoke access, Apple notifies us via a server-to-server callback and we delete your LingoSwap account accordingly. If you use "Hide My Email", your real email is never disclosed to us.

5. Push Notifications

Push notification tokens (APNs / FCM) are stored per device so we can deliver session invites, friend request alerts, scheduled session reminders, and chat messages. You can disable notifications at any time from the in-app Settings screen — this immediately deletes the token from our servers.

6. Data Sharing

We share data only with the infrastructure providers required to operate the App: PostgreSQL hosting (database), LiveKit (real-time audio/video transport — content is not stored), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications, Android), Apple Push Notification service (push notifications, iOS), Google Cloud Translation (message and subtitle translation), Google Cloud Speech-to-Text (real-time transcription, only while Live Subtitles are switched on), and DeepL or MyMemory as translation fallbacks when the primary provider is unavailable. We do not share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

7. Data Retention

Account data is kept until you delete your account. Session metadata is retained for up to 12 months for safety and abuse-prevention purposes, then anonymized. Reports and ban records are kept as required by safety policy. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us.

8. Your Rights

You can: access the data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, delete your account (which deletes your profile and unlinks your sessions), export your data, opt out of push notifications, withdraw your consent at any time. 9. Children

LingoSwap is not directed at children under 13. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have parental permission to use the App.

10. Security

We use bcrypt for password hashing, JWT tokens with 30-day expiry, HTTPS for all traffic, and JWT signature verification for OAuth flows. No system is perfectly secure, but we do our best. If we discover a breach affecting you, we will notify you promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated in-app.
